Tequila and… Sports?

Cuervo and physical strength could get you to Vegas

Question: What goes best with salt and a lime?

Answer: Tequila, duh.

Well, tequila lovers (and haters for that matter) are going to descend on the Piazza at Schmidt’s in Northern Liberties for a chance at tequila glory.

Jose Cuervo is hosting Cuervo Games 2010, an event in which local teams compete in physical challenges for a chance to go to the national finals in Las Vegas.

The competition consists of five tough challenges that include rock climbing against water, being suspended 30 feet in the air, getting hit by oak barrels, mixing the best tequila creation and more.

Think you can take on the challenge?

Teams can sign up on the Cuervo Games Facebook page. They win by getting people to vote for them. The Top 3 teams will compete on Saturday, June 12 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.

But watch out there could be some stiff competition out there including teams from WMMR's "Preston and Steve Show."

The winning team from Philadelphia, along with the winning teams from several other cities head to Vegas for the national finals to fight for the ultimate grand prize: your own personalized batch of Cuervo tequila and an all-expenses-paid, weeklong trip to Mexico.

If you’re more of the observer type, come out to enjoy some tequila drinks and cheer on the contestants.
