Higher Education Pays Off — In Freebies

You might think that classical concerts don't seem very appealing to college students, but that's where you'd be wrong. The free concert held by the Philadelphia Orchestra brought out 1,200 students last year and this year, the performers expect even more.

After all, the concert on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the Kimmel Center is free.

Pre-concert entertainment features the University of Penn marching band. And soon after, the classical journey begins with pieces from the orchestra’s French romantic repertoire -- including the Kimmel Center’s 7,000 pipe organ.

After the show be sure to check out live music, food and refreshments.

To gain free admission to the Philly Orchestra's performance, just print out your ticket and enjoy a fun, but unconventional evening.

The free concert is part of the eZseatU program. Students can attend all Philadelphia Orchestra subscription performances, enjoy discounts at local restaurants and five post-concert parties for one low fee of $25.
