Springer Does “Chicago”

The Tony award winning, 11-year running, musical "Chicago" is heading to Philly in September and they’re bringing a very special guest -- Jerry Springer.

Springer, the former mayor of Cincinnati, political pundit, lawyer, award-winning newscaster, country recording artist and international Emcee and TV personality, will star as Billy Flynn.

Murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery all take center stage in the record smashing play. Set in the 1920s, "Chicago" tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her (all situations that Springer is very familiar with thanks to "The Jerry Springer Show").

Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. for the show. The play will run at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music from September 15 until the 20 as part of the Academy’s “Broadway Series.” You can order by calling 215.731.3333, or by heading to the Music Academy Web site.
