See MGMT for Free — With a Catch

There's more than one catch if you want to see MGMT for free

One of music's hottest bands is coming to Philly on one of the holiest days of the year for some Philadelphians.

Super-chic MGMT will play a free concert at the 23rd Street Armory in Center City on September 27.

But there's a catch -- to get into the show, you need to test drive a Kia Soul on one of the three days leading up to the Sunday night performance. So don't take "Time to Pretend." Instead, make sure you get out there for a test spin soon because it's unclear how many tickets would be given out.

While the free concert is all well and good for the Gentiles and Atheists, Philly's Jewish community will have to miss out since the concert falls on the holiest night of the year -- Yom Kippur.

Sorry to our Jewish readers. Unless people want to spend their holiday fasting at the concert (instead of synagogue), they will miss the show.

And if you asked "Who is MGMT" you can find out more about the neo-psychedelia pop group on their Web site

The Soul Collective Tour is sponsored by Kia in an effort to market their new car to young people -- it's just too bad that some MGMT fans will miss out on this cool opportunity.

The test drives begin at noon at 22 South 23rd Street. And there will be other free performances throughout the weekend from groups including Amanda Blank and The Drums.
