Philly IS Green

Philly does its part to help out the environment.

The Daily Beast ranked the 25 greenest cities around the country and Philadelphia takes the number nine spot.

The rankings were based on how many residents are eco-conscious, how many recycle, how much public transportation is used, how many homes have solar heating.

About 38-percent of Philly locals are eco-conscious and 70-percent recycle, according to The Daily Beast.

Many residents are ditching their cars and taking SEPTA to get where they need to go. According to the list, an average of 1,149,733 weekday trips are on public transportation.

Other cities on the list include Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, and New York City, which took the number one spot.
