Philly's Own Octane Gets “KISS”ed With Great Gig

Local rockers handpicked to open for KISS

Octane may finally have gotten their big break by opening for rock legends.

They won Guitar Center's “Get Your Favorite Band on the KISS Tour Contest.” The win gets the rockers the opening slot for KISS' Friday concert at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden.

Lead singer Dave Simpson was so happy to be opening for Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and the boys.

“Where do I start?" Simpson mused. "I was a huge fan as a kid and to get the chance to perform on the same stage as them is truly amazing."

The band’s management informed them about the competition, fans voted them into the Top 5 and the rest was history.

"The coolest thing is that we had to be voted into the Top 5 by our fans. KISS then actually hand picked us based on our music," said Simpson. “We have to remain objective. We have 25,000 people watching us at the show, and we want to get 25,000 new fans."

As far as the competition in the contest goes, Simpson says there were some alright acts and a few good ones. Of the few good ones, Octane reached out to them in an attempt to perform some shows together.

As if their music isn’t amazing enough, they also give back. Check out this video from when the band paid a special visit to one of NBC’s Wednesday’s Child, Larnie.

Some tickets to Octane's show with Kiss are still available.
