This was the scene of Tuesday's accident when a SEPTA bus crashed into the front of Monk's.
Monk's Cafe will reopen this Saturday, according to owner Tom Peters.
"We'd love to open tonight (Friday), but we have no gas," said Peters.
Tomorrow, however, Monk's will have gas and will be open for business at 5 p.m. Well, at least some of it will.
Construction is ongoing on the front of the building, so only the back and middle rooms will be serving.
Because of construction, patrons must enter through the alley (kinda' reminiscent of the 20s, eh?).
And in true speakeasy form, customers must use the password "SEPTA" to gain admittance.
The reopening comes a mere four days after a Delaware Port Authority vehicle and SEPTA bus collided causing the bus to crash into the front of the building occupied by Monk's.
Peters expects construction to be complete by, at the latest, August 23.
"We don't want to rush it," Peters said. "We want things to be done right."
