Oscar Winner Returns to Del. High School

Luke Matheny returns to his high school for a special screening of his Academy Award-winning film

Filmmaker Luke Matheny returned to his hometown on Monday for a special screening of his Academy Award-winning film God of Love.

Matheny is a 1993 graduate of Concord High School. He continued his education at Northwestern University’s school of Journalism as well as the graduate film program at NYU.

God of Love was actually part of his NYU thesis.

Gov. Jack Markell and his wife Carla joined the Oscar winner for the special assembly. Matheny answered questions after the screening mostly from the students at his Alma mater.

So where will the 34-year-old be keeping his Oscar?

"I'm giving this to my mom because I don't want to be in the position to be writing a script and looking at this on my desk... making me too subconscious," Matheny said.

He also showed of his Oscar statue to the adoring students.

The film won its Oscar for best live action short film.
