Veterans from North and West Philadelphia were honored on Saturday during the second annual “Hug a Vet” rally.
The event, hosted by State Representative Vanessa Lowery Brown, took place at the VFW post on Race Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We owe our veterans a deep debt of gratitude for the sacrifices they made defending the many freedoms we enjoy,” said Brown.
The free event included music, food and prizes.
Members of the Philadelphia Fire Department and representatives of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security also attended.
