Local Museums Offering Free Admission

This Saturday is Museum Day Live, Smithsonian’s annual celebration of their museums. But you don’t have to go all the way to Washington, D.C. to get in on the freebies.

Ever been to the Penn Museum or the Academy of Natural Sciences? If yes, have you ever been given the chance to go to both…for free?

Today is Museum Day Live, Smithsonian’s annual celebration of their museums. But you don’t have to go all the way to Washington, D.C. to get in on the freebies. Participating museums around the country are also offering free daily admission for visitors.

Here in Philadelphia, 20 museums are participating, including the Penn Museum, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and the National Museum of American Jewish History. Visitors must download and print their free Museum Day Live ticket and show it at the door in order to enter for free.

Opportunities like this don’t happen every day in Philadelphia, a city full of museums. So go explore the mystery and conspiracy surrounding the new Maya 2012 exhibition at Penn or don’t miss the final few days of the renowned George Washington presentation on Religious Freedom and Bigotry at NMAJH.  Or just grab your friends and go to both on this sunny Saturday afternoon!

Check the Smithsonian website to see the full list of museums participating in the event.
