Nothing’s better than a fresh hot slice of bread made from scratch, so this Friday, April 23, head to Great Harvest Bread Co. in Wayne or Ardmore, snack on some fresh baked goodies and donate to a worthy cause.

The One Day, One Dollar, One Goal fundraiser is being held in honor of Mauri Booton, a former bakery owner who recently died of leukemia. All proceeds will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s cancer research fund.

“Cancer is a disease that takes too many of our loved ones away,” says Wayne bakery owner Jim Blumenstock.

Blumenstock was a good friend of Booton's and says that his death has inspired bakery owners across the country to continue his outstanding efforts to find a cure for cancer.

“The Great Harvest mission statement simply states -- be loose and have fun, bake phenomenal bread, run fast to help customers, and give generously to others,” says Blumenstock.

For every customer that walks through the door, the bakeries will donate $1 to the fund.

“Together we can all make a difference.”
