Looking for something to do this Saturday night? Forget the bars and head out for a good cause.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk happens nationwide, but this Saturday, Oct. 24, it will be taking place at Philly's FDR Park.
The walk starts at 6:30 p.m. and is quite the sight. All participants carry different colored lit-up balloons -- white for survivors, red for supporters and gold for those who have lost someone to cancer.
You don't need to know someone with cancer to register for the walk, all ages are encouraged to come to the event. If you can't make it, there are plenty of other ways to participate and support the cause.
Proceeds from the walk go to blood cancer research, providing financial aid to patients who need it and creating local family support groups.
Philly's own Tina Fey is the national spokesperson for the walk.
