Head Down the Shore With an iPhone App

Headed down the shore but not sure how to spend the weekend? Don’t worry, there’s an app for that!

With funnel cakes, beaches and boardwalks all included, iPhone users will soon have access at their fingertips to the comings and goings with The Jersey Cape application, according to the Press of Atlantic City

The Cape May County Department of Tourism is launching the app mid-July in an attempt to better promote the county's websiteGoogle Analytics revealed that the majority of visitors were accessing the site via cell phones and other mobile devices. With a trend like that, the tourism office knew it was time to update their marketing plan of attack -- especially for outsiders.

“Seventy-five percent of our visitors are from outside New Jersey,” Tourism Director Diane Wieland told the newspaper.

Wieland says hopping on the technology wave is an excellent opportunity to provide visitors with as much information as possible.

The Jersey Cape app will link you not only to the county’s website, but also to other shore town websites so you can keep up with events, figure out where to stay and where to eat.

You'll be able to get the app for free through iTunes next month -- we'll give you a heads up when it's out!
