Chef Jose Garces of Philadelphia beat out New York chef Jehangir Mehta on Sunday night to be crowned the Food Network’s The Next Iron Chef .

Garces hosted a viewing party for 400 people at his spirited Mexican restaurant Distrito, located at 3945 Chestnut Street, for the season finale.

He, along with nine other world-class chefs battled it out in a series of culinary challenges for the title.

The Philly chef has also been talking to reporters about possibly opening a restaurant in New York City -- after winning the coveted title. And recently, he ID'd the name of his potential New York outpost, Grub Street New York reports.

“If I do anything, it will be an Amada,” Garces said.

The win is guaranteed to not only bring Garces instant fame but financial success.

"It's a huge risk to go on the show and possibly be eliminated early ... or be displayed in a negative light," Chef Garces told the Los Angeles Times. "But [if you win] it brings a lot of prestige, it's an honor and a privilege to be an 'Iron Chef.' ... It's very good for business as well, let's be honest."
