Expect to see abstract pieces at the Wilmington Fringe Festival.
The first state will celebrate unconventional, eclectic art in Wilmington during its first ever Fringe Festival.
The festival's name dates back to 1947 in Scotland, where alternative theater companies performed on the "fringe" of the Edinburgh International Festival. Today, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the biggest art fest in the world and fringe festivals have become a tradition in such cities as Philadelphia and New York.
At the Wilmington Fringe Festival, audiences will enjoy innovative, thought-provoking and engaging art and performances from 27 different artists.
Everytime a ticket is purchased, 50 percent of the price goes directly to the artists who created the show. But hurry, because they will only be available until Sept. 30.
Wilmington's Fringe Festival also includes a 24-hour film contest -- the only props are a Wilmington landmark and a pink feather boa -- for contestants of all ages, according to the Wilmington News Journal.
Wondering what kind of funky art could be presented or how those boa movies might turn out? Be sure to check out the Fringe Festival in Wilmington from Oct. 1 until Oct. 4.
