The Flaming Lips will be bringing their theatrics to Delaware this summer.

There is a heavyweight alt-rock festival coming to Delaware this summer.

The brand-spanking new Firefly Music Festival is coming to The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Dover, Del. July 20 to 22.

Promoters are calling this “The East Coast’s Premier Music Experience” and with a lineup including The Killers, Jack White, The Black Keys, Death Cab for Cutie, Passion Pit, The Flaming Lips, John Legend, Cake, Young the Giant, Girl Talk and many more top-billed acts they could be right.

And there are plenty of up-and-coming acts including Philly’s own Chiddy Bang set to round out the first-annual festival being brought to life by the folks at Red Frog Productions who also produce the Warrior Dash and Great Urban Race events.

This is Red Frog's first attempt at putting on a large-scale festival but they say they're ready for an estimated 40,000 or so fans.

"What we're good at as a company is planning a large scale event," said promoter Greg Bostrom.

The folks at Red Frog say they chose Dover in part because it has the lodging available for large-scale events like NASCAR and is centrally located withing driving distance to Philly, New York, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore.

And, Bostrom says the community is on board with the festival making Dover even more desirable of a location.

Besides four stages of music, the festival also includes an arcade, interactive window art and hot air balloon rides.

"We're thrilled to announce Firefly Music Festival as the East Coast's premier music experience and are set on delivering an unforgettable weekend complete with top tier talent and unique attractions," said festival promoter Joe Reynolds.

Tickets go on sale Thursday and range from $178 (for early-bird tickets) to $1,195 for admission to all three days. The most-expensive "Super VIP" option includes golf carts between stages, a casino night, massages, air-conditioned bathrooms and free hot air balloon rides.

Camping is also available on site for $145 extra for the weekend. Promoters aren't sure how many concert goers will opt for camping instead of nearby hotels.
