Fight Hunger By Eating

Let's face it, as a city, we're overweight -- well, according to all those stupid magazine rankings. And while we might have trouble deciding between a cheesesteak and a hoagie, there are some that are not so lucky.

In an effort to fight childhood hunger, Philly's top chef's, including honorary co-chairs Jose Garces and Marc Verti have come together to offer their culinary excellence in exchange for your money.

On Monday, August 17 at 6 p.m. Taste of the Nation will take over the Loews Hotel's Regency Ballroom. Philadelphians can sample tons of food, cocktails and specialty beers, not to mention participate in silent and live auctions all while helping a great cause.

For $75 (in advance) or $85 (at the door) you can help put food in the mouths of hungry children.

The best part is that 100-percent of the proceeds go to the children. Local beneficiaries include Philabundance, Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, The Food Trust, and the Pennsylvania Hunger Action Center.
