On Saturday, Jan. 2 or Sunday, Jan. 3, do something different to welcome in the new year -- experience the rich spirit of Chinese culture in one exhilarating show.

The Greater Philadelphia Asian Culture Center and the Greater Philadelphia Falun Dafa Association are proud to welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts to the Academy of Music.

Shen Yun is based on ancient Chinese heroic legend as well as modern tales. The stories will be told through beautifully costumed dancers, stunning backdrops and a live orchestra.

“Shen Yun performances tell us a great deal about the values and ideals of China’s past and also about what is happening in China today,” says Cindy Wang, spokesperson for the Greater Philadelphia Asian Culture Center.

An unprecedented collaboration of leading Chinese dancers, choreographers, and musicians, Shen Yun Performing Arts seeks to breathe new life into traditional Chinese culture while providing an experience of transcendent beauty.

”We want to provide out audiences with an experience of consummate beauty and goodness,” says Shen Yun principal dancer Timothy Wu.

Tickets start for Saturday’s 7:30 p.m. performance and Sunday’s 2 p.m. performance start at just $35 and can be purchased by phone at 215-893-1999 or online.
