Creative Minds Show Their Designs

Creative designs will be showcased all over Philadelphia

Creative minds will all be around Philadelphia for the DesignPhiladelphia event starting Oct. 13.

DesignPhiladelphia is more than a week-long event showcasing some of the best designs. Whether it is architecture, graphic design or fashion, there will be creativity flowing from all aspects of the arts.

Getting things started will be the DesignPhiladelphia’s Kick-Off. The kick-off event will include innovative designs from different areas around Philly.

The first part of the event will include The Liao Collection and Award Presentation beginning at 6 p.m. on the 300 block of N.11th street where Mayor Michael A. Nutter will receive the first Design Champion Award for supporting creativity around the area.

Other events will include The Sherwin-Williams Colormix 2012 starting at 11 a.m. at the Marketplace Design Center, a jewelry making demonstration, which also starts at 11 a.m. at the Bluestone Fine Art Gallery and a film titled The Architect and The Painter narrated by James Franco at Drexel University from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The Liao Collection and Award Presentation tickets are $50, but most of the other events for DesignPhiladelphia are free.
