The Chase is On

Here’s a fun event you won’t want to miss. On Saturday, July 31, run, don’t walk, to City Chase.

City Chase is a scavenger hunt filled with physical, mental and emotional challenges all over the city of brotherly love.

Teams of two can walk, run, or use public transportation to complete 10 out of 30 challenges. Contestants must decipher clues to get to different locations and then complete the challenge. If teams get to a challenge and decide it’s too much to handle, they can move on to another clue -- as long as they cross the finish line with 10.

Teams can call friends and family or use smart phones for help. SEPTA passes will be provided, but no bikes, rollerblades, or cars allowed -- strictly feet and SEPTA.

Prizes for winners include BlackBerry Smartphones, gym memberships, sports gear and gift certificates.

The winning team will travel to an unknown location to compete in the National Championship. They will go up against the winning teams from Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, New York, San Diego and Seattle.

The winning team there will each get a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Crossover Utility Vehicle and, of course, all the glory of being U.S. champions.

If you don't win, don’t get bummed out and run off before the real fun starts. The after-party begins right after the chase at the Field House on 11th and Filbert Streets.

Unfortunately, you must give to receive. City Chase costs $175 per team and you can register online. The registration fee goes to a good cause -- Philly-based non-profit organization Back on My Feet which promotes the self-sufficiency of the homeless through running as a way to build confidence, strength and self-esteem.

Contestants must be at least 18 to participate. Click here to sign up.
