Get Your Grill On

Come out for some friendly competition on Citizen’s Bank Way

Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd...The ninth-annual Stephen Starr-Garry Maddox Barbecue Challenge is mixing ballparks and barbecue grills for a day of family fun.

Former Phillie Garry Maddox and Philadelphia restaurateur Stephen Starr are turning up the heat in support of the Youth Golf & Academics Program -- a charity supporting children in troubled city neighborhoods.

So gather up the gang on Saturday, August 7 and head over to Citizen’s Bank Way (between left field and third base gates) from 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. for some serious grilling.

Watch grillers compete in two categories, one for restaurants and another for pit masters (any barbecue enthusiast not sponsored by a restaurant).

The event is free and sampling tickets are given out with donations for some mouth-watering taste testing along Restaurant Row.

At the end of the day, check out Garry’s Rib Challenge with a winner take all competition for a trip to the 2010 World Series.

And while your there why not stick around for Phillies Alumni Night when the Phils take on the New York Mets at 7:05 p.m.
