Listen up book lovers, Chestnut Hill’s Second Annual Book Festival is July 9 through July 11.
There will be discussions, author readings, writer’s workshops and singer/songwriter slams.
The festival features over 50 regional authors this year, including formal mayoral candidate Sam Katz, Daily News writer Solomon Jones and Oprah Winfrey’s summer top pick Richard C. Morais.
There will plenty of discussions for all you budding young writers and those who just love stories. Some topics to be discussed are shaping a story, developing creative non-fiction writing, the art of revision and tips for marketing your book.
Parents, if you need to bring your kids along, there are activities for them, too. They can listen to children’s author’s readings, hang out with the Cat in the Hat and enjoy a Green Eggs and Ham Brunch.
“Last year’s book festival was a huge success,” said Greg Welsh, President of the Chestnut Hill Business Association. “We’re happy to put this together for the second year and looking forward to another great roster of writers.”
Most of the events will be held at Stagecrafters Theater on Germantown Avenue. A few other venues on Germantown Ave will be hosting events, as well.
The writer workshops cost $10 and last for 90 minutes. All other events are free.
