Center City Sips, the Center City District-sponsored happy hour that happens every Wednesday from now through August and like every year, the bars and restaurants will be filled to the brim with happy hour crowds taking advantage of the $4 cocktails, $3 wine, $2 beers and half-price appetizers. Why not give yourself a little breathing room and check out one of the following participating bars that also offer an outdoor space?

  • Swanky cocktail lounge APO has a second floor rooftop deck that overlooks 13th Street and is serving "Moscow Mules" (vodka, fresh lime juice, and ginger beer) and "John Collins" (bourbon, fresh lemon juice, house seltzer).

  • 1225 Raw Sushi and Sake Lounge has a secret inner courtyard where you can sip on "Sake Tangos" (fruit infused sake), "Pink Bubblies" (vodka, champagne, cranberry, pineapple) or Leblon Sours (cachaca, watermelon schnapps, pineapple, sour mix).

  • Vango Lounge and Skybar has a roofdeck and will be serving up well vodka and gin drinks.

  • Chill under the orange umbrellas of The Plaza Cafe at Table 31 and watch the Comcasters wander by while you sip sangria or an "Applelicious Cocktail."

There's no guarantee that these spots won't be as jam-packed as the rest of the bars, but at least you can catch a passing breeze while you're slinging back as many $4 sangrias as you can squeeze into the two-hour time frame.
