Beer and Wine “Geeks” Face Off in Culinary Clash

World Café Live hosts evening of dueling drinks and culinary creations

A beer-brewing legend and a world-class sommelier join forces at World Café Live Tuesday June 8, giving you the chance to answer that classic question: Beer or wine?

Paired with a three-course dinner of culinary delights, Dogfish Head Brewer Sam Calagione and French Culinary Institute sommelier Marnie Old will be making gastronomy a competitive sport and you will be the judge.

These two sages of the sauce, who have co-authored the popular book “He said Beer, She Said Wine,” will give you a first-hand opportunity to try to decide which pairings work the best.

The reception featuring five beers and five wines at 6 p.m. is only the beginning of the spirited night. The seated three-course meal starting at 7:30 p.m., created by World Café Live’s Executive Chef Michael Breslin, will pair such items as Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon versus Dogfish Theobroma with oven-roasted dry-aged sirloin, or the vegetarian option of marinated, grilled Portobello mushroom and spinach whipped potatoes.

The ticket price, $75 per person or $140 for two people, includes a copy of the beer and wine guru’s “He Said Beer, She Said Wine.”

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to splurge on both intoxicating choices. And there’s no rule against deciding that having both is best.

Get your tickets before it's too late at worldcafelive.com.
