Fourth Wall Arts Salon showcases independent artists

Yearning for some art and culture this weekend?

Philadelphia is known mostly for its cheesesteaks, tastykakes, water ice, and soft pretzels. But the city is more than just its food -- it's filled with aspiring artists and talent.

The Fourth Wall Arts Salon is hosting another gathering of the region's finest artists. This month’s showcase held on Saturday night from 7 to 9 and will consist of speakers, painters, dancers and musicians.

Fourth Wall is being held at theSolmssen Court at Hamilton Hall. The Salon this month is a special collaboration with The Corzo Center for the Creative Economy at the University of the Arts.

Hosting the event is the award winning poet, actor and musician, Perry “Vision” Divirgilio.

The showcase will be filled with music from Marc Silver, the Jimmy Crack Corn Experiment and DJ Supreme. Poet, playwright and storyteller, Gina Dukes will be featured as well as spoken word poet, B Yung.

Topical speakers Neil Kleinman and Matt and Woody will grace the stage alongside dancers Frances Bradley and Courtyard Dancers. Philadelphia native and visual artist James Rose as well as the sculptor and painter, Claes Gabriel round out the ecectic night of art.

A reception featuring food and open bar will follow the performances.

The Fourth Wall Arts Salon is held once a month at various places throughout Philadelphia. Each month assorted artists are invited to perform alongside each other.

Tickets are limited and cost just $15 beforehand and 20 bucks at the door.
