A Little Country in the City

Enjoy a reprieve from the city without going far.

Want to escape city life without actually leaving the city? Then head to the Ninth Annual Harvest Festival at Reading Terminal Market Oct. 24, because Filbert St. is being transformed into a farm.

The road will be closed off to cars and filled with hay and cornstalks for an authentic "country" feel from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Experience all the best fall festivities all day long -- hayrides, pumpkin patches, a haunted house, a pie-eating contest and more. Admission is free.

Don't forget the delicious snacks that come with the change of season. At the festival you will enjoy homemade apple pie, warm apple cider, fudge and other delectable treats in addition to the locally grown fruits and vegetables that will be for sale.

Last year's event attracted more than 20,000 visitors and this year's festival promises to be even bigger and better.

If you want to get away for a day but don't want to go very far, this is the place for you.
