8/20: Shots, Specials and Soul

Happy Hour: If you’re in the mood for Latin heat, head to Xochitl. The Mexican restaurant, lounge and tequila bar offers delicious happy hour specials including half-priced margaritas, $2 beers and $6 Guero special (a shot of Sauza Blanco and a can of Tecate.) Grease and Grits: Get funky tonight at West Philly’s Rotunda. The intimate venue plays host to classic blues, soulful singing, tap dancing and plenty more. World musician Fiidla, trumpeter Michael Ray (Kool and the Gang, Sun Ra), tap master Robert Burden, vocalist and dancer Zen Aura and violinist and composer John Blake Jr. will join forces for a night sure to have you on your feet dancing all night. Rob Thomas: It’s been a few years since lead singer of Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas, left the group that made him famous. Since then, the three-time Grammy Award-winning rocker released chart-topping hit after hit. See Thomas perform in AC’s Borgata tonight through Sunday.
