8/15-8/16: Parties, Concerts, and a Tour of the Schuylkill

Beer Expo: Enjoy some of the best international beers at the International Great Beer Expo this Saturday.  The variety of beers include Stella, Hoegaarden, Bass Ale, Czechvar, and many more.  The first Expo begins at 12:30 p.m. and for all of those who couldn't wake up that early, there is a second Expo beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets range from $10, if you're DD for the night, and $45 if you're not.  The event takes place at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, 5100 Broad St, Philadelphia, PA 19112.  

  Three Parties, One Race:  This Saturday, either bike, run or skate to the three different block parties that are going on throughout PhiladelphiaRed Bull's Block to Block race does not allow you to use public transportation though and you must sign up at Clark Park, 43rd St. and Baltimore Ave, by 2:30 p.m.  Either sign up as an individual or team and enjoy the most talented deejays and performers the city has to offer.  The block parties are: Nocturnal Skate Shop Party (3rd and Bainbridge St), Mad Decent Block Party (12th and Spring Garden) and Two.One.Five Magazine's Fifth Issue Party (The Piazza at Schmidts.)  Each party is free rain or shine.  
 
See a Legend: Six-time Grammy Award winner, John Legend, will be performing at the Mann Center this Saturday night.  Backed by an 11-piece band with r&b star, India Arie, as the show opener, this show is guaranteed to be one of the best yet.  Tickets begin at only $25, that's a steal for these two talented artists.  The Mann Center for the Performing Arts, 5201 Parkside Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131, 7:30 p.m. 
 
Tori at the Tower: XPN welcomes singer/songwriter Tori Amos to the Tower Theater this Saturday at 8 p.m. Popular in the 90's and known for her excellent piano skills, Tori is back with her tenth studio album, Abnormally Attracted to Sin.  You're sure to hear some new tracks as well as good ol' classics. Tickets begin at $34.50. Tower Theater, 19 South 69th Street Upper Darby, PA.
 
Tour the Schuylkill:  You always see the crew teams from different universities zipping up and down the Schuylkill, but did you ever think you could do it too? Now, here's your chance.  There will be professionally guided tours this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning at the Walnut Street dock.  After a half hour of training, you should be on your way as you paddle up the river towards the Art Museum and down the river towards Bartram's Garden.  Tours last from three to four hours so make sure you are prepared to burn some calories.  Walnut Street Dock, South 25th Street and Walnut Street beneath the Walnut Street Bridge, Philadelphia, PA, $50-$75.
