6/14: Max Weinberg, a Movie and a Cheap Menu

Happy Hour: If you’re looking for cheap drinks and some good eats, make Valanni your spot tonight. Head there for happy hour for half-priced tapas, $5 premium you-call-its and $3 lagers at the bar or outside. Tapas include spicy pulled chicken empanadas, “fiery” potatoes, crispy chickpeas with chorizo and much, much more. Plus, if you can’t make it there until later, try anything from their late-night menu, most dishes range $5-$10. Valanni, 1229 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19107, +21, 5 p.m.

Max Weinberg Big Band: He’s taken time off from the "Late Night Show with Conan O’Brien,"  (you know since the whole Jay versus Conan feud) now see Max Weinberg, the former 'Conan' drummer, tonight. Oh yeah, you may also know him from helping out the E Street band, led by “The Boss.” Playing a different style tonight, Weinberg is here with his big band, playing classic jazz tunes, swing and blues. Tickets range from $35 to $50 for the nearly sold-out World Café show. World Café Live, 3025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19104, $35-$50, 8 p.m.

Movie Monday: We know Monday’s are never fun, so lighten the mood tonight at the Trocadero. It’s Movie Monday and, for only $3, see the hunky Leonardo DiCaprio in "Shutter Island." The Scorsese thriller is about a murder that has disappeared from a hospital for the criminally insane. See what happens when DiCaprio goes on the hunt for him. As always, arrive early and your $3 goes a beer and bag of popcorn. Trocadero Theatre, 1003 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19107, +21, $3, 8 p.m.
