11/27: Latifah, Laughs and Livetronica

Gary Gulman: After all the Black Friday shopping, we’re sure you are exhausted and could use a good laugh. See stand-up comedian Gary Gulman tonight at Helium. Gulman was a finalist on both seasons two and three of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He’s also appeared in Dane Cook’s Tourgasm with Cook, Jay Davis and Robert Kelly. Queen Latifah: Queen Latifah, will be at The House of Blues tonight in Atlantic City. Breaking onto the rap scene in the late 80s, Latifah has established herself as the queen of hip-hop. Not only has she won a Grammy, but she has also been awarded a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Image Awards. Disco Biscuits: Disco Biscuits, the local trance band, will be at the Electric Factory tonight with Soja. The Disco Biscuits fuse electronic elements, like trance and livetronica, together. The UPenn alums have a new album out titled On Time. Soja’s sound is a bit different from Disco Biscuits. Hailing from D.C., Soja is an energetic reggae band on the forefront of a music revolution.
