10/8: Clothes, Concerts and Culture

Fashion Week: Fashion Week is taking over Philadelphia. At the 23rd Street Armory, guests are invited to shop at 12 boutiques set up for the event, enjoy cocktails and snack on appetizers before the show. Beginning at 5 p.m., designers, students and performers will hit the runway. Tonight’s event will feature the designs of Moore College of Art & Design students, Brooklyn Royalty, Wrath Arcane, Love Brigade, Palmieri Jeans, Delicious and Kill City. Entertainment will be provided by various local deejays as well as This is a Shakedown and Black Landlord. Discount tickets will be provided for students, so get your pass today. Senses Fail: Rock group Senses Fail will join A Skylit Drive, Closure in Moscow and Fact for the One More Brick Tour heading into Philly tonight. The groups are set to perform at the Troc and advanced tickets are only $16. Hailing from Jersey, Senses Fail has been tearing up the emo/post-hardcore rock seen since 2002. A Skylit Drive is also part of the post-hardcore rock scene, Closure from Moscow specializes in progressive Australian rock and Fact hails from Japan with their own twist on rock and roll. This show is sure to be a blend of not only countries, but also unique sounds that are part of the new wave of rock. Trocadero Theatre, 1003 Arch Street, Philadelphia, Pa., $16-$19, 7 p.m.

African Design: Celebrate the designs of local world-traveling artists who are part of DesignPhiladelphia. Explore different trends, innovations and exhibitions from our talented designers. Tonight at Twist, learn about the Sub Saharan African culture, both classic and early modernism. Textiles, art objects, furniture, and iconic design pieces will be on display.
