A new Happiness Index has bad news for the Beaver State: 49 other states (and D.C.) are happier than you

Hey, Oregon. Chin up, buddy. It must be rough being the most miserable state in the nation.

Listen, we're not the ones saying that. We think you seem in good spirits, actually, what with the food revolution in Portland and wine from the Willamette Valley and Hermiston being the Watermelon Capital of the World and all. (And have you lost weight? You look fantastic!)

But MainStreet.com calculated each state's household income, personal debt, employment and foreclosures to come up with the ranking for their Happiness Index, and as it turns out, you have a perfect storm of bad happening right now. You're even worse off than Florida (ouch). So they figure you've got to be pretty blue.

Nebraska came in first, by the way. But do they have the Hermiston Watermelon Festival? Nope. Not even close.
