Getting Over It

The remedy for this weekend's blues might be simpler than you think

Let's face it, there's a lot to be grouchy about: The Eagles' loss, the arctic blast, the horrendous economy, just to name a few. Philly sure has taken a beating this holiday weekend. Let's try to end it on a high note.

The 14th annual Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service takes place today, bringing tens of thousands of volunteers from across the region together to help communities find solutions to problems like illiteracy, homelessness, poverty and sub-standard housing. Events throughout the city will provide those interested with opportunities to give back and find solutions.

If you haven't made plans to volunteer with an organization, there are smaller but equally important ways for you to contribute to the cause. Donations of blankets, canned goods, coats and toiletries are being accepted at drop-off locations around the city, which means all of that stuff you haven't worn/used/looked at in a year can finally be put to good use. (And you'll get the added bonus of a clean closet!)

I'm feeling better already!
