Who knew garbage could be made gorgeous?

As part of the South Street Arts program, where participating landlords rent vacant storefronts to starving artists for just the cost of utilities, the Dumpster Divers collective has taken up residence at 734 South Street.

The recycle-happy group, who make art out of found objects – found in the garbage, that is – has put up a semi-permanent display of their creations and the results are both trashy and amazing.

From furniture to sculpture, the exhibit might make you rethink what is art and what you throw out on the curb every week. If you’re so inspired, you can reduce your own environmental footprint and up your artistic cred by donating your own no-longer-loved objects to local artists through the Please Take Materials Exchange.
