See a play and eat cake for less than $5

The Theatre Arts Program at Penn presents their version of Beth Henley's Crimes of the Heart tonight through Saturday at the Bruce Montgomery Theatre in the Annenberg Center. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first production of the play, which one a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1981.

The tale of the tragic comedy revolves around the Magrath sisters as they convene at their granddaddy's home after one of the sisters shoots her abusive husband. A 1986 film version of the play garnered three Academy Award nominations in 1986.

Tonight's production is part of a promotion that has $5 tickets going for half-price. A night at the movies would set you back four times that! In addition to the special ticket price, tonight’s opening night also holds the promise of birthday cake (for the anniversary).  Cake beats popcorn any day!
