When Jupiter Glazer was 7 years old, his parents migrated to Northeast Philadelphia from Russia. Now at the awkward age of 14, Glazer’s encountering all the rough patches expected of adolescence—only about twice as bad and three-times as funny, thanks to his thick accent, perma-Jew 'fro and obsession with X-Men.

That’s the story of Losers, the new book by Matthue Roth, a writer and performance artist who’s focused much of his career on the experience of growing up Jewish in Philadelphia.

Celebrate the book at Tritone (1508 South St.) Saturday night with a release party, book reading and concert from Prowler, a local band that makes a fictitious appearance in Losers.

The fun begins at 9 p.m. on November 22, and it’ll cost you $5 to get in.
