Have you always thought you'd win the Amazing Race, if only you were able to get off your couch and enter?
Okay, that may never happen, but there is another opportunity to prove yourself right here in Philly. Grab a fellow couch potato and enter the City Chase, an urban scavenger hunt crossed with an obstacle course that puts your city-dweller chops to the test this Saturday, May 16.
Participants, who work in teams of two, receive a list of clues with "physical, intellectual and humorous challenges designed to push comfort zones." The challenges are scattered around the city and as a team accomplishes each one, they accumulate "Chase Points." Just to make it even harder, teams are only permitted to travel by foot or by public transportation. The first team to cross the finish line with 10 "Chase Points" wins and the winning team then gets to compete in the national championship in September.
Entry for a team of two is $170, a portion of which is donated to the event's charitable partners, and teams can register through the official web site.
No special skills are necessary to play - according to the official rules, the only requirements are that team members "be human and have a pulse."
