{"comments":[{"body":"Hi Tracy! Just recently listed my dad's condo as he passed away. Realtor was nice enough to print specs of exactly the same units. Noticed my dad was paying higher taxes. Went to city hall to inquire. They stated that someone told them my dad's unit was on the third floor making it a more expensive unit. When I asked who did that the clerk replied she did not know. When I showe proof of first floor unit ownership, the taxes were lowered for future bills. My dad paid the high tax rate for the last seven years totaling over $500.00. However, when I asked for a refund of overpaid taxes I was told it is the tax payers responsiblity to know what everybody else is paying for taxes and asked for an adjustment is needed. I replied how would you know what everyone else is paying. She stated it is public record. Let the consumers know that they should inquire from time to time about taxes in their area just to make sure everything is above board. If I hadn't received the specs for the area from the realtor I would have never know that we were paying too much in taxes. I can't believe we are not due a refund. Thought you might like to run this info in your survive and thrive segment as an FYI.
