The Philadelphia Phantoms will soon disappear.
With the Spectrum being sold, the soon-to-be-homeless Phantoms have a new owner and a move out of the city seems eminent.
Comcast-Spectacor sold the Flyer's minor-league AHL affiliate hockey team to the Brooks Group out of Pittsburgh, Pa.
The difficult decision had to be made because the Phantoms will be without a home at the end of the season as the Spectrum is set for demolition.
Why the sale?
"This was a very difficult decision for us to make," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko.
"When we decided to close the Spectrum we explored many alternatives for relocating the Phantoms and this really became the best scenario," he said.

The Phantoms will play the final regular-season hockey game in the Spectrum on Friday, April 10. Until the end of the season the team will continue to be operated by Comcast-Spectacor.
As of now the Brooks group has yet to decide where the Phantoms will move or if a name change is in the cards.
The Phantoms have been a breeding ground for Flyers for the past 13 years. The Flyers had the luxury of sharing a complex with their minor-league team making player transactions and scouting much easier.
In their time in Philly the Phantoms twice won the AHL's Calder Cup.
