Sixers Secure Their Holiday

The 76ers finally signed a point guard Tuesday -- the problem was that they guy they signed never played a minute in the NBA.

The Sixers locked up their No. 1 pick when they signed 19-year-old Jrue Holiday, General Manager Ed Stefanski announced.

The team didn’t reveal any specifics about the deal given to the 6-foot-3 rookie.

The 76ers used the 17th pick in last month’s NBA Draft to select the former UCLA guard.

Holiday averaged 8.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, a team-high 3.0 assists and a team-high tying 1.60 steals in 29.0 minutes per game in his only season with the Bruins He was rated the No. 1 point guard and the No. 2 overall prospect in the Class of 2008 by Rivals.com.

The signing was expected and could be the final nail in the coffin for hopes of Andre Miller returning to run the point for the Sixers next season.
