Decorative Fabric Covered Boxes

Materials:

*Boxes in assorted sizes (Gift boxes will work, but look around. Even empty shipping boxes can be used!)

*Acrylic paint and a paintbrush

*Burlap

*Ribbon

*Scissors

*Spray adhesive

*Hot Glue

*Candles (Don't worry! This can still be a kid-safe home decoration. Battery operated candles will work just fine!)

Directions:

1. Paint box the same color as your burlap.

2. Cut a square piece of burlap approximately 3 1/2 times larger than the height of your box. For example, if your box is 5 inches high, cut your square approximately 17 1/2 inches by 17 1/2 inches. (Note: If your box is not square, you will need to adjust your measurements accordingly.)

3. Use spray adhesive to cover your box with the burlap. First spray the top of the box and place it in the center of the burlap square. Then spray one side and pull the burlap up so it is flush against the box. Continue all the way around the box. (You will have a triangle of burlap coming out at each corner...that's ok!)

4. Use hot glue to adhere the triangles of burlap at each corner flat to the sides of the box. Tip: I fold two triangles towards each other on one side of the box. Flip the box around, and repeat. This way, I have two opposite sides that are solid burlap. And the remaining two opposite sides resemble the ends of a wrapped package, with the triangle overlapping.

5. Use hot glue to attach ribbon at the top of the box. Fold under visible edge about 1/2 inch and glue in place before gluing down to the box. This gives it a nice finished look!

6. Arrange and/or stack, and place candles on top!
