One Year of Firsts: Yoga at the Art Museum

Day 137

Yoga is invigoration in relaxation. Freedom in routine. Confidence through self control. Energy within and energy without. ~Ymber Delecto

I have never practiced Yoga outside.
I have never done Yoga with a thousand people.
I have never experienced anything like I did today at Yoga Unites for Living Beyond Breast Cancer on the Philadelphia Art Museum Steps.

This event was the brainchild and dream of my friend and yoga instructor Jennifer Schelter. I was so priviledged to be asked to be the honorary chair this year.

Here's a little taste of what happened.

Okay. I know. It sounds like we took some lala drugs and went into the twilight zone.

All I know it this was one of the most moving experiences I've ever been a part of and words are just inadequate.  My video doesn't begin to show you how much grace and beauty was bestowed on everyone who was a part of this.

I am an 18 year breast cancer survivor.  I have to admit I put a wall up at times between myself and the experience of being a survivor.  The emotions are too painful sometimes to go back and experience.

Today I was so glad, Jennifer in her wonderful way, gave us all permission to mourn, to laugh and cry, remember that breast cancer has changed us.

We were warriors and goddesses on those steps today.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer supports women and their families in every stage of breast cancer.  What's great about this organization is they believe like I do, it's not enough to survive breast cancer.  We have to live fully. We have to live the best quality life possible.
