One Year of Firsts: Walking the Dog Backwards

Day 99

A dog is one of the remaining reasons why some people can be persuaded to go for a walk. ~O.A. Battista

I really don't know how I came up with this today. My day was crazed. Stress, deadlines, stuff going on.  I had no "first" planned for the day.

All I could think of was "walk backwards".  No even better, "walk backwards with the dog". Yes.

Why? Not sure.  I can tell you I got some strange looks.  My dog? She kept looking up at me like  she was saying "seriously? " (Of course Angel walked forward.)

So I quickly realized walking backwards feels like you are using different leg muscles. Or maybe it's the same muscles working differently.

Funny, my neighbor, Paul, who is now used to me doing some kooky things saw me and said "huh. Walking backwards for your first I see."  Yep.  "okay , good," he said.

You know, I was concentrating so hard on not tripping I realized I completely forgot about all the issues rummaging around in my head.  I was just thinking about putting one foot in back of the other.

It made me realize,  if you're trying to work out a problem,  maybe you just have to mentally walk around the block backwards.  It is definitely a different view.
