One Year of Firsts: Make a Bouquet From the Garden

Day 125

Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1844

I love fresh flowers. It's a luxury for sure, but almost every week I buy some. Even the cheapest little bouquet from the grocery is a treat to me inside the house in a vase.

In the dead of winter , it just reminds me somewhere flowers are blooming and soon it will be here.

Now with blooms everywhere I thought I'd try something new. Can I take little clippings from outside instead of buying flowers? hmmm.  here we go.

I have no idea what I'm doing. I wish I had a really cutting garden. That will have to be another first. Meanwhile, I hope I'm not hurting my bushes.  Here's what I came up with.

We'll see if they last more than a few days. Any suggestions?
