Erika Martin is a meteorologist for NBC10’s First Alert Weather Team. You can watch Erika’s live forecasts weekend evenings at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on NBC10.
She joined NBC10 in September of 2016. Erika is dedicated to helping viewers prepare for their days ahead, and answering their questions on weather.
Erika is passionate about severe weather coverage, including snow and live weather updates on location. She enjoys being in the elements as the weather is moving through, and reporting on what is happening to people at home.
Her most memorable meteorology moment to date involved tracking a tornado warned cell from Louisiana to Mississippi in February 2016. She also worked during 24 hour coverage of Hurricane Sandy. Having watched the storm make landfall is something she will never forget.
Erika is a Certified Storm Spotter for the National Weather Service and is in the final stage of receiving her CBM seal from the American Meteorological Society (AMS). Prior to joining NBC10, she served as a freelance meteorologist at WCBS 2 and WPIX 11 in New York City. She also worked at stations in New Haven, Connecticut; Springfield, Massachusetts; and San Francisco, California.
Erika earned an Associate’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Santa Monica College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She is currently working towards receiving her MBA in Energy and Sustainability.
When Erika is not reporting the weather, she enjoys trying new restaurants, spending time with her family, and doing yoga.
