We are no longer accepting internship applications for the Summer 2010. Moving forward we will accept applications for our summer internships from Jan. 1 to March 31 of that year.

We will begin accepting applications for the Fall 2010 internships on June 1 with an August 16 deadline.

Guess what! We're looking for a few smart, eager interns who can fill key roles within our website -- NBCPhiladelphia.com. Former interns have had their work published both locally and nationally across the NBC network, on Yahoo!, digg, Drudge and more. If broadcast is more your thing, you can apply for an internship with our broadcast division -- NBC10 -- here.

WHAT WE'LL DO FOR YOU

Well, unfortunately we have no money to offer, but you'll sure as heck gain invaluable work and life experience at one of the most visited websites in the Philadelphia area. You'll have the opportunity to get your work published online, learn how a major news outlet works and build connections with people in the industry.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • A talent for telling stories -- in various formats
  • Eagerness to learn -- We'll teach you to be a better journalist, learn new technologies and build your resume.
  • Smarts, good work ethic -- We're looking for someone who wants to be the best at all times.
  • You're quick on the uptake -- Can take direction and go with it, but knows when to ask questions
  • Extreme multi-tasker -- Can handle juggling all kinds of tasks
  • Child of the Internet -- You should get most of your news online and know how to find news and information in more ways than just Googling.
  • Self motivated -- We don't babysit.
  • Team player -- You should play well with others.
  • You like to have fun -- We like people who can take a joke, laugh and smile.
  • You need to be a junior, senior or graduate student in good standing at an accredited institution and you must get college credit for the internship -- It's for your own good!

WHAT ROLES WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Editorial Interns

  • Writing experience is a must -- We're not expecting you to be a writing master, but some experience in either a newspaper, website, blog or even journalism class is necessary.
  • Versatility -- You should be able to adapt to different types of content: hard news, around town content, politics, etc.
  • Internet-Fluent -- Be able to find and pitch stories which fit our site's voice and content needs.
  • Brownie Points if you:
    • Have a good knowledge of Philly and the suburbs
    • Have video and photo editing experience
    • You're Philly-savvy [trends/hot spots/cultural guru]

Photo/Multimedia Interns

  • Writers emote with words, your memories are made with images -- an aspiring photographer/photojournalist
  • You understand the fundamentals of still photography -- know ISO, aperture and shutter settings and what happens if they're not set correctly
  • Have working knowledge of photo editing software -- Photoshop, Aperture and/or Lightroom
  • Have your own DSLR -- having an external flash a plus
  • You have strong photo concept, framing and lighting skills
  • Able to work alone, off-site on projects
  • Brownie Points if you:
    • Have a good knowledge of Philly and the suburbs
    • Have motion photography and video editing experience
    • You're Philly-savvy [trends/hot spots/cultural guru]

    • Have your own form of transportation

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

If you think you fit into one of our highly-coveted positions, then send us an email -- make sure to put your name in the subject. Tell us about yourself, give your availability and send over a resume and examples of your work. Examples are a must!

For summer internships, we prefer those who can work full-time.
