Aditi Roy joined NBC10 in May of 2002. She currently anchors two newscasts, “NBC10 News at 7pm” on NBC Philadelphia Nonstop as well as “PHL 17 News at 10pm”. Roy worked mornings for her first several years at NBC10, first as a reporter and then as an anchor on NBC10 News Today. In 2011 and early 2012, she filled in as a correspondent for NBC News, reporting for The Today Show, Nightly News, and MSNBC. In the summer 2011, she worked as a fill-in correspondent out of the NBC News Burbank bureau.
Roy has received numerous honors, including seven Emmy nominations, ranging in categories from “Best Hard News Reporter” to “Best Feature Reporter.” She was named Main Line Today Magazine’s 2010 “Best News Anchor, Reader’s Choice”. In 2009, Philadelphia Magazine named Roy “Best News Anchor” in its “Best of Philly” issue.
Roy has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley, where she was a Chancellor’s Scholar and graduated with high honors. She also earned an M.A. in Political Science from Stanford University and an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University. In May of 2012, she earned an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. She is fluent in Bengali and has also studied Spanish. She has been an adjunct instructor at Villanova University, where she taught journalism.
In her spare time, Roy is an avid runner and has completed two marathons in Chicago and Washington, D.C. She enjoys traveling, and has taken numerous trips to India, where her parents grew up before they emigrated to the U.S. She also enjoys playing the piano.
