$50K Perfume Heist From Del. Store

Police ask for the public’s help to find burglar(s) that stole thousands in scents from Rehoboth Beach outlet

Something smelled off at a Delaware beach perfume store last week.

Employees at the Perfumania Outlet in Rehoboth Beach arrived at work Thursday morning to find the door pried open and more than $50,000 worth of perfume gone, according to a press release sent by Delaware State Police Tuesday morning.

Police believe the heist happened between 3 a.m. and 8:40 a.m.

The thief or thieves had not only pried open the door but managed to break the alarm system -- preventing it from going off -- before grabbing the scents from display cases and making off undetected from the store located in the Midway Outlets, cops said.

Police asked anyone with information or who might have seen the burglary to contact Troop 4 at 302-856-5850 ext. 211 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online or by texting β€œDSP” and your message to 274637.
