A man wearing a Spider-Man mask attacked a hotel clerk, according to police.

A man wearing a superhero mask turned into a super-villain yesterday, according to police.

Police in State College say they are searching for a suspect after a night desk clerk at a hotel was beaten by a man wearing a Spider-Man mask and wielding a large skeleton key.

It happened around 1:50 a.m. Monday at the Hotel State College. Investigators say the suspect was dressed in all black and armed with the key when he repeatedly started hitting the clerk in what police believe may have been an attempted robbery.

The Centre Daily Times reports nothing was missing after the incident and that the foot-long key that weighs about a pound and mask were left behind. Police are testing them for possible DNA evidence.

The clerk was taken to a hospital for observation after the assault.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact State College Police.
