Snow Footprints Lead Cops to Alleged Serial Burglary Twins on Long Island

Snow footprints helped police on Long Island collar two suspected burglars.

Nassau County police say they found a door ajar at the Park Stationary & Smoke Shop in Massapequa Park after responding to a burglary alarm there at 4:30 a.m. Monday. They noticed fresh footprints in the snow leading away from the store.

Police say the tracks led to the front lawn of a house some distance away where they observed two men leaving the premises.

Police say the men were questioned and found to be in possession of scratch-off lottery tickets obtained during the burglary.

They say a subsequent investigation revealed they were responsible for four other burglaries in Nassau.

The suspects were identified as twins John and Eugene Wallace. They face five counts of burglary and criminal mischief.

Information on attorneys for them wasn't immediately available.
